Date: Sunday, February 10
Time: 12:30pm, and then later between 3:30pm - 4:00pm @ Garfunkels
Place: Outside the Cafe on the Square, Trafalgar Square (yeah, same spot as last time), and then later at Garfunkels on Northumberland Ave.
This is the Chinese New Year celebrations to bring in the Year of the Rat. There is a parade starting at 11am, but it can be quite a nightmare to try and follow the parade and keep track of folks, so we’ll be meeting up a little later. There will be all sorts of things going on at Trafalgar Square to enjoy.
That being said, past celebrations have been packed - quite literally - and there is a lot to see. If you are busy enjoying the celebrations on your own, great! We’ll have a second meeting spot later for something to eat and drink. Any suggestions on a good place to head? I’m not all that familiar with spots in the area.

Hi to who-ever reads this, just thought I’d put that I’m coming down into words. I’m not 100% sure but I think I’ve been to a couple of London photobloggers meets through word of mouth. I look forward to getting some extensive use from my camera…
Is there a way of joining this site to get newsletters about up and coming meets?

What sort of thing are you looking for eats-wise. Im a regular in the westend, and can recommend allsorts. Oh, and I think I might come along to this one too!(my first)

Pete - I’m responding a tad late of course, but as for a place to eat, just something that can accommodate a bunch of people and their camera gear, and has some variety so no one gets stuck at a place with food they hate. I’ll email you:)

Am hoping to make it too. Will it not be busy/cordoned off by the Cafe on the Square though? If so, maybe we should have a backup meeting place?

You could be right Neil, but its hard to second guess where it wont be crowded, but still remain central. How far away are people prepared to go to meet? Theres the Strand Cafe, just round the corner from Trafalgar square, on the Strand (funnily enough) or maybe outside Charing Cross (main station) might be quieter. Or Garfunkels on Northumberland Ave (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&q=garfunkels&near=London&fb=1&sa=X&oi=local_group&resnum=1&ct=image)

Yeah, so sorry guys! I had thought we would definitely need a second backup meeting place. I forgot entirely about deciding on a place and posting it. Should we just say the Garfunkels on Northumberland Ave? Thanks for the suggestion Pete! Never been, but it seems easy enough. Meet there between 3:30pm - 4:00pm?
